Realm Outfitter Commentary

The Garberg is one of the few Mora knives that is full tang. And Mora, is the only knife (currently) we recommend that typically doesn’t have a full tang. But this is their exception. The Sweds make a great product and this is no exception. The scandi (zero) grind of the Garberg is superior when it comes to bushcrafting and it is easy to sharpen. WARNING – do not sharpen scandi/zero grind at any other angle than that of the zero grind. If you do, you’ll have a micro edge, which is ultra sharp to begin with, but near impossible to “sharpen” out. Otherwise sharpening the zero grind on the angle of its huge edge will ensure you keep the blade in good condition. The Garberg has a very sharp 90 degree edge on the spine of the blade, making using a ferrocerium rod very easy. The carbon blade is coated and can rust, but with minimal care it is ready for outdoor use. The Sheaths for Mora Knives are typically nothing to write home about, meaning that are not thick Kydex, or nice leather. However, the polymer used is very tough, very durable and very lightweight, meaning it exceeds at functionality. We really like Mora Knives as a great hiking knife since the weight is often low, and the blade is high quality and durable, and the zero grind can handle anything from good prep to fire starting. The handles are also known to be very comfortable, reducing hotspots and keeping you safe. Lastly, and not least, the Mora’s overlap in value is great. Like a Glock, their production methods are low cost, but it is important to note that does not equal low quality. Really any Mora you get you won’t be disappointed with. It has been consistently the one knife that I find my hand reaching for even when next to way more expensive options.
